Scope of Work:
- Complete renovation of the Bridge Electrical Control System
- Reliability improvements to Bridge Mechanical Operating System
- Replace Span Locks
- Filling in open grating with concrete to improve the rideability of the shoulders so bikes can safely stay in the road
- Improving maintenance access to electrical and mechanical components
- Bridge painting
- Adding new controls and new span locks
- Miscellaneous repairs to:
- Fender
- Sanitary Line
- Grating Repairs
- Deck Sealing
Construction Impacts:
- The Maintenance of Traffic (MOT) plan will highly prioritize the safety of vehicles, pedestrians, and the contractors while complying with required FDOT standards and criteria. MOT for this project will be based on the procedures outlined in the current edition of the FHWA Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and will be in accordance with FDOT’s Standard Plans and Standard Specifications for Road and Bridge Construction.
- The affected property owners and tenants will be notified of the proposed changes by mail.
- Work will be done in phases to minimize impacts to the community.
- Temporary lane closures will be required during certain phases of improvements.
- Access to residences and businesses will be maintained during construction.
- Full bridge closures will occur only during the mechanical repair phase and detours will be provided utilizing US 1.
