State Road (SR) 7/US 441 Transit Corridor Improvements Project (Group 6)

Project Limits: Along Kimberly Boulevard from SW 81st Avenue to SW 69th Avenue and SW 10th Court to SR 7/US 441, along SW 11th Street from SR 7/US 441 to SW 49th Terrace, and along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/Hammondville Road from NW 12th Avenue to NW 10th Avenue

Construction Cost: $4,897,438

Scope of Work:

  • Project improvements along Kimberly Boulevard consist of milling and resurfacing the roadway within the project limits to ensure long-term infrastructure resilience, upgrading existing pedestrian signals at signalized intersections within the project limits to improve push button accessibility, modifying the median to extend the eastbound left turn lane at SR 7/US 441 for additional vehicular storage capacity, and upgrading curb ramps, pavement markings, and signage within the project limits to improve visibility and accessibility.
  • Project improvements along SW 11th Street consist of milling and resurfacing the roadway from SR 7/US 441 to the Oakland Hills Apartments’ west entrance to ensure long-term infrastructure resilience, modifying the median to extend the westbound left turn lane at SR 7/US 441 for additional vehicular storage capacity, adding a continuous concrete sidewalk from east of SW 55th Avenue to west of 50th Avenue for pedestrian connectivity, and upgrading curb ramps, pavement marking, and signage within the project limits to improve visibility and accessibility.
  • Project improvements along Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard/Hammondville Road consist of milling and resurfacing the roadway within the project limits to ensure long-term infrastructure resilience, minor roadway widening throughout the project limits to accommodate bicycle lanes in both directions, and upgrading the existing lighting under the SR 9/I-95 bridge to enhance nighttime visibility.
