JUPITER- — Closing travel lanes on Indiantown Road east of Florida's Turnpike to Chasewood Plaza is planned to start June 16.

No widening of six-laned Indiantown Road is planned, said Alicia De Fago, spokeswoman for the Florida Department of Transportation.

The $2.4 million plan calls for resurfacing and restriping the roadway. New landscaping and sprinkling systems along the sidewalks and medians are planned.

Several traffic lights will be replaced.

The project is scheduled to take about seven months.

At least one lane on Indiantown Road going both east and west will remain open at all times during construction. At least one entry/exit lane will remain open during business hours to West Jupiter Plaza, Chasewood Plaza and other shopping areas along the roadway, De Fago said.

The Indiantown Road improvement project is the start of an DOT plan that includes expansion of I-95 between PGA Boulevard and Indiantown Road. The I-95 work includes widening I-95 from six to 12 lanes and building high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes in both directions.

HOV lanes only allow vehicles with passengers.

The I-95 work is scheduled to begin this summer and finish in spring, 2012, said De Fago.
