Project Purpose

Repave and restripe the existing roadway to extend the service life of the pavement and enhance safety for motorists and pedestrians.

Scope of Work

  • Repave the existing roadway to improve the resiliency of our infrastructure.
  • Extend northbound to westbound dual-left turn lanes at NW 31 Avenue by 150 feet to improve traffic through the intersection.
  • Modify the current median opening at Lion Shopping Plaza (just west of NW 33 Avenue) to prevent drivers from turning left onto eastbound Oakland Park Boulevard when exiting the plaza, improving safety.
  • Upgrade street lights to Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures to provide uniform illumination and eliminate dark spots along the corridor.
  • Replace and upgrade signs and pavement markings to meet current standards and increase reflectivity.
  • Install backplates with yellow retro-reflective borders on all signal heads to improve signal visibility for motorists.
  • Improve access to bus stops.
  • Modify curb ramps to comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) to improve accessibility for users with disabilities.

Construction Impacts

  • Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community.
  • Resurfacing will be done during nighttime hours using one-lane or two-lane closures.
  • Temporary lane closures will be required.
  • Access to businesses and residences will be maintained during construction.
  • Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times.
  • No detours are expected.
