Project Purpose

To enhance safety and mobility by leveraging advanced ITS technologies to improve connectiity and prevent incidents. This project aligns with the community’s vision for a more connected and safer transportation system that enhances quality of life.

Scope of Work

Installation of ITS equipment including fiber optic cable, Bluetooth devices at major intersections, and Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) cameras to provide 100% coverage of the project limits.  These ITS improvements will ensure Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC) has the best data possible for FDOT and local partners to dispatch road rangers, update Traffic 511, and notify the public of traffic conditions and travel times via overhead signs (known as Arterial Dynamic Message Signs or ADMS).  This project will also install a fiber optic cable for Broward County Traffic to enhance communication to all signalized intersections on the corridor.

Construction Impacts

Work will be done in phases to minimize impacts to the community.  Temporary lane closures will be required for some phases and will occur during non-peak hours.  Access to properties will be maintained during construction.
