The purpose of this project is to increase the beautification of the I-95 corridor following the express lanes projects that have cleared away much of the existing landscape and accent features due to the expansion of the highway and ramps. Additional beautification is achieved through the installation of trees, palms, shrubs, and terrace walls along the corridor.
Landscape revitalization will primary address the I-95 mainline and I-595 interchange. Landscaping throughout the interchanges and mainline will include a mix of palms, flowering trees, and canopy trees. Additional improvements will be made to the Stirling Road medians to add landscape and restore irrigation damaged by construction. Landscaping in the medians will include palms and shrubs that match the existing plants in the interchange.
Minimal impacts on the public are anticipated. No lane closures or detours along I-95 or the interchange ramps are anticipated. Shoulder closures may be required to protect the workers. Temporary lane closures adjacent to the Sheridan Street medians, Stirling Road medians, and on Taft Road will take place during non-peak hours.
