Project Purpose

To proactively address future traffic impacts at the SR-9/I-95 Interchange at Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard.

Project Improvements

  • Widen Palm Beach Lakes Boulevard and I-95 off-ramps to add turn lanes to improve traffic flow and avoid backups on I-95.
  • Repave the existing roadway to improve the resiliency of our infrastructure.
  • Replace existing traffic signal mast arms and lighting at the following intersections impacted by the widening: Robbins Drive, La Quinta Inn, and both off ramps from I-95.
  • Replace existing traffic signal strain poles with mast arms and replace lighting at the following intersections impacted by the widening: Executive Center Drive and the East Mall Entrance
  • Upgrade existing pedestrian curb ramps and install detectable warning surfaces.
  • Replace and upgrade signs and pavement markings to meet current standards and increase reflectivity.
  • Install two new Overhead Arterial Dynamic Message Signs on Palm Beach Lakes Blvd.

Construction Impacts

  •  Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community.
  •  Some vibration and noise from construction activity may be experienced.
  •  Temporary lane closures to build the improvements will be completed during non-peak hours.
  •  Pedestrian and vehicular access to all properties will always be maintained.
