To improve traffic operations, safety, and mobility within the interchange and along the surrounding roadway network. The project is intended to reduce congestion and traffic spillback onto the I-95 mainline, improve merging movements, enhance roadway operations for motorists, and improve accessibility for pedestrians through Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) related upgrades.
The project includes reconfiguring the existing interchange ramps into a tight diamond interchange configuration and adding auxiliary lanes to improve traffic flow, operational efficiency, and safety. Additional improvements include roadway resurfacing and repaving, upgrades to signing and pavement markings, lighting enhancements, drainage modifications, and landscape improvements within the existing median. The project also includes upgrades to existing curb ramps, crosswalks, and detectable warnings to improve pedestrian accessibility and meet Americas with Disabilities Act (ADA) criteria.
• Work will be done in phases to reduce the impacts to the community.
• Temporary lane closures will be required.
• Pedestrian traffic will be maintained.
• Access to properties along the corridor will be maintained during construction.
