Advanced Wrong Way Driving Detection Systems Project For I-95 Interchange Exit Ramps

Project Purpose

This project will install a Wrong Way Driving Detection System at four I-95 Interchange exit ramps. The detection systems will flash DO NOT ENTER signs to the driver and alert the Regional Transportation Management Center when a wrong way driver is detected.

Scope of Work

  • Proposed Improvements: Improvements include signing, pavement markings, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) elements such as video detectors, highlighted signs, ITS cabinets, underground fiber optic cable, and electrical service wire. Construction Impacts

Temporary lane closures will occur during off-peak hours. Detours are required, one night per ramp, due to ramp closures for testing purposes. Pedestrian detours may be required for sidewalk closures.
