Scope of Work

  • The primary objective of the projects is to provide bridge rehabilitation for the Old Roosevelt Bridge. The bridge rehabilitation project will include: Replace span locks which connect the two halves of the movable bridge deck when the bridge is in the “down” position Renovate the bridge tender house Filling in open grating with concrete to improve the rideability of the shoulders so bikes can safely stay in the road Improving maintenance access to electrical and mechanical components Bridge painting as needed Miscellaneous repairs to: Fender Sanitary Line Grating Repairs Deck Sealing

Construction Impacts

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community Full and partial bridge closures will occur only during specific phases and detours will be provided utilizing US-1. Temporary lane closures will be required for some phases (such as minor repaving) and will occur during non-peak hours. Marine vessel traffic will be maintained with temporary closure on half the channel during fender construction. Another public meeting (Construction Open House) will be held prior to construction. Detailed information about how to keep informed of potential construction impacts will be provided at this meeting. Temporary modification to the draw bridge operation schedule will be coordinated with the United States Coast Guard.
