Project Limits: Proposed improvements include fourteen bus shelters located in Palm Beach County along SR 5/US 1, starting in the City of Boca Raton at Northeast 20th Street, and ending in West Palm Beach at Northlake Boulevard.

Project Letting: 01/28/26.

Anticipated Start Date: Spring 2026

Anticipated Completion Date: Spring 2027

Scope of Work

  • The project includes designing and detailing custom bus shelters including foundations and lighting/signing elements with corresponding ramps. Project improvements: Elevated bus shelter platforms to improve safety and access for riders with disabilities. Lighting to improve safety and comfort for riders. Real time bus arrival information for riders’convenience. Bike racks for cyclists who wish to take transit. Covered seating to protect riders from the elements.

Construction Impacts

Work will be done in phases to reduce the impacts to the community and access to businesses and residences will be maintained during construction. Temporary lane closures will occur one lane at a time during non-peak hours to minimize impacts on traffic and pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times. Temporary bus stops will be provided for existing bus shelter impacts.
