Project Purpose

To improve safety for nighttime users of the corridor by providing additional roadway lighting and upgrading existing lighting.

Scope of Work

  • Install new lighting along the I-75 mainline from the bridge over Weston Road to east of US 27
  • Provide shielding for light fixtures west of Bonaventure Boulevard to minimize potential glare to nearby residential developments
  • Upgrade the existing lighting at the Glades Parkway Interchange for uniformity of lighting
  • Upgrade existing lighting along the I-75 curve (near the I-595/Sawgrass Expressway interchange) with Light Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures to improve energy efficiency and enhance light quality and lifespan

Construction Impacts

  • Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community
  • Light poles are located on the roadway shoulders so work will require temporary closure of the roadway shoulder
  • Temporary travel lane closures will be required for installation of light poles along bridge approaches
  • Construction within the segments adjacent to the residential neighborhoods will be restricted to daytime operations in compliance with the City of Weston noise ordinance
