Scope of Work and Project Improvements

  • Project improvements along the south side of the North Fork New River (C-12) Canal consist of constructing a new shared-use path to improve connectivity.
  • Installing a new crosswalk and pedestrian signal enhancements, including Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons (RRFBs), at NW 34th Street and the North Fork New River (C-12) Canal to enhance pedestrian safety.
  • Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps, signage, and pavement markings throughout the project limits to improve accessibility and nighttime visibility.
  • Project improvements along northbound SR 7/US 441 consist of repaving the roadway from Oakes Road to Riverland Road to reconfigure the roadway from three to two lanes to enhance traffic operations to and from interstate ramps.
  • Widening the westbound S.R. 84 exit ramp to northbound U.S. 441/S.R. 7 to enhance safety by improving sight distance visibility.
  • Widening the eastbound SR 862/I-595 exit ramp to northbound U.S. 441/S.R. 7 from one lane to two lanes to improve traffic operations.
  • Constructing a new shared-use path from Oakes Road to just south of the South Fork New River (C-12) Canal.
  • Installing a bridge barrier separation along northbound U.S. 441/S.R. 7 over the South Fork New River (C-12) Canal to enhance shared-use path safety.
  • Constructing a new sidewalk along northbound U.S. 441/S.R. 7 from Orange Drive to Oakes Road to enhance pedestrian connectivity.
  • Installing new light poles with LED fixtures at shared-use path crossings to improve nighttime visibility.
  • Installing a new traffic signal mast arm at the intersection of U.S. 441/S.R. 7 and Riverland Road to enhance traffic flow.
  • Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps, signage, and pavement markings throughout the project limits to improve accessibility and nighttime visibility.

Traffic Impacts

  • Northbound SR 7/US 441 is permitted to have a continuous single-lane closure as needed to facilitate construction operations.
  • Northbound SR 7/US 441, from the SR 862/I-595 entrance ramp to the South Fork New River (C-12) Canal, will be permanently reduced from three lanes to two lanes to improve traffic flow to and from the SR 862/I-595 interstate ramps.
  • NW 34th Avenue may be closed in one direction as needed to safely accommodate roadway operations.
  • Northbound NW 34th Avenue will be detoured via NW 9th Street and SR 7/US 441.
  • Southbound NW 34th Avenue will be detoured via SR 7/US 441, NW 8th Street, and NW 8th Place.
  • Shoulder closures are permitted as needed.
  • Motorist and pedestrian access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.
