Scope of Work and Project Improvements

 

  • Project improvements consist of widening northbound S.R. 817/University Drive to accommodate an auxiliary lane onto the westbound S.R. 862/I-595 entrance ramp to improve vehicular capacity and operations.
  • Relocating traffic signal mast arms to accommodate the proposed widening.
  • Replacing an overhead sign structure within the project limits to enhance safety by improving sight distance visibility.
  • Upgrading drainage within the project limits to enhance long-term infrastructure resilience.
  • Replacing the bus shelters along northbound S.R. 817/University Drive from south of SW 24th Street/Nova Drive to Kolsky Boulevard to enhance safety, accessibility, and traffic operations for buses.
  • Installing new light poles and upgrading existing fixtures to LED lighting to enhance nighttime visibility and safety.
  • Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps, signage, and pavement markings through the project limits to improve visibility and connectivity.

Traffic Impacts

  •  S.R. 817/University Drive is permitted to have single
    lane closures nightly as needed, 8:30 p.m. until 7:30
    a.m., Sunday through Thursday.
  •  Double lane closures are permitted nightly as
    needed, starting at 9:30 p.m. until 7:30 a.m.,
    Sunday through Thursday.
  •  Full closures on S.R. 817/University Drive are permitted nightly as needed, 11:00 p.m. until 6:00 a.m.,
    Sunday through Thursday, for overhead signage installation.
  •  Motorist and pedestrian access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.
