Scope of Work and Project Improvements

Project improvements consist of widening S.R. 838/Sunrise Boulevard at the S.R. 9/I-95 Interchange overpass to accommodate dual right turn lanes onto northbound and southbound S.R. 9/I-95 to improve vehicular capacity and operations
Widening the southbound S.R. 9/I-95 (Exit 29) off-ramp to accommodate triple left and triple right turn lanes onto SR 838/Sunrise Boulevard to improve vehicular capacity and operations
Milling and resurfacing the existing roadway within the project limits to ensure long-term infrastructure resilience
Installing new light poles with LED fixtures at the S.R. 9/I-95 Interchange to enhance nighttime visibility
Installing Wrong-Way Driver detection systems on all ramps at the S.R. 9/I-95 Interchange to improve vehicular safety
Upgrading existing signalization features to improve pushbutton accessibility and enhance pedestrian safety
Adding a shared-use path on the S.R. 838/Sunrise Boulevard bridge over S.R. 9/I-95 to enhance pedestrian connectivity
Upgrading sidewalk curb ramps, pavement markings, and signage to enhance visibility and accessibility.

Lane closures along S.R. 838/Sunrise Boulevard are permitted, as
needed, weeknights, 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m., and are restricted
to one direction at a time.
The inside lane for northbound and southbound S.R. 9/I-95
Express will be closed during bridge foundation activities. The
outside Express lane for northbound and southbound S.R. 9/I-95
Express will remain open during this phase.
Lane closures on S.R. 9/I-95 ramps are permitted, as needed, for
roadway widening, Sunday to Thursday, 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
Full closures of the S.R. 9/I-95 mainline and ramps with detours
are permitted, as needed, to set bridge beams and sign structures, Sunday to Thursday, 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
Detours at NW 8th Avenue, NW 7th Avenue, and NE 4th Avenue
will occur, as needed, for roadway and pavement reconstruction,
weeknights, 9:00 p.m. until 7:00 a.m.
Motorist and pedestrian access to businesses and residences will
be maintained at all times.
