Scope of Work and Project Improvements

Project Improvements:

  • Milling and resurfacing the roadway throughout the project limits to ensure long-term infrastructure resiliency.
  • Repurposing the roadway from Camino Real to SE Mizner Boulevard/SE 5th Street by eliminating the 11-foot outside lane and narrowing the median to provide 7-foot separated bike lanes and 11-foot wide sidewalks.
  • Narrowing the median from SE Mizner Boulevard/SE 5th Street to NE Mizner Boulevard/NE 8th Street to provide 7-foot separated bike lanes.
  • Adding a new signalized mid-block crosswalk with increased lighting south of Plaza Real and upgrading pedestrian push buttons and signal heads at signalized intersections throughout the project corridor to enhance safety and connectivity for pedestrians.
  • Replacing existing traffic signals with mast arms at the intersection of S.R. 5/U.S. 1 and Camino Real for long term resiliency.
  • Constructing a second left-turn lane at the intersection of northbound S.R. 5/U.S.1 and Camino Real to improve intersection operations and capacity.
  • Modifying curb ramps and pedestrian detectors to meet ADA criteria, and replacing and upgrading signing and pavement markings to improve visibility and accessibility.
