Scope of Work and Project Improvements

• Dredging a new canal in partnership with South Florida Water Management District for future connection to the EAA reservoir.
• Constructing northbound and southbound U.S. 27/S.R. 25 bridges over the South Florida Water Management District canal to facilitate enhanced stormwater resiliency.
• Milling and repaving the roadway throughout the project limits to enhance infrastructure resilience and safety.
• Constructing drainage and roadside swales for stormwater treatment and storage.
• Installing guardrail and concrete barrier walls to enhance motorist safety.
• Upgrading signage and pavement markings to enhance visibility and safety.

Traffic Impacts

  • Work will occur in phases to minimize impacts to the public.
  • Lane closures may occur as needed and advance-notice signage will be posted on site.
  • The speed limit within the project limits will be reduced from 65 mph to 55 mph.
  • Access to local agricultural fields will be maintained at all times; however, access to the south entrance of the EAA will be through the north access point during construction of the southbound bridge.
  • Temporary closure of the existing agricultural bridge will be in place while construction activities are completed.
  • Access to adjacent properties will be maintained at all times.
