Project Limits: State Road (SR) A1A/South Ocean Boulevard from North of Ibis Way to North of Emerald Beach Way
Project Purpose: The purpose of the project is to rehabilitate the asphalt pavement to extend the service life of the existing roadway, including necessary roadside improvements, in accordance with FDOT Design Manual (FDM) Section 114. The nature of this project is asphalt Resurfacing, Restoration, and Rehabilitation (RRR) and associated safety, mobility, and functional improvements.
Virtual Public Workshop: Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 6:00 p.m located at the Palm Beach Fire Rescue Station No. 3, 2185 South Ocean Boulevard, Palm Beach, FL 33480. Free parking will be provided during the public meeting in Phipps Ocean Park (South of the Fire Station). The meeting will be offered in-person and virtually simultaneously. Scope of Work:
- Mill and resurface the existing roadway pavement.
- Upgrade signage and pavement markings.
- Widen the paved shoulders to five feet along both sides of SR A1A from Ibis Way to Sloan’s Curve.
- Install actuated flashing beacon/advisory speed limit signs on curve approaches (S-curve).
- Replace existing asphalt sidewalk with a concrete sidewalk along southbound SR A1A up to south of Sloan’s Curve.
- Replace guardrail along SR A1A at Sloan’s Curve.
- Improve the existing drainage system at locations where flooding issues are documented.
Construction Impacts:
- Work will be done in phases to reduce the impacts to the community.
- Temporary lane closures will be required.
- Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times.
- Access to properties along the corridor will be maintained at all times.
- Road closure for drainage improvements.
- Potential detour routes: Detour route along US-1.
