SR 80/US 98/Southern Boulevard Resurfacing Project

Project Length: 0.8 miles

Project Limits: SR 80/US 98/Southern Boulevard from East of Parker Avenue to West of Washington Road

Project Purpose: The purpose of this project is to improve the flow of traffic through the intersection of Jog Road and Southern Boulevard.

Completion Date: Summer 2024

Estimated Construction Cost: $1.5 M

Scope of Work:

  • Widen the westbound Southern Boulevard off-ramp to Jog Road to include two left-turn lanes, a through or left-turn optional lane, a bicycle “keyhole” lane, and a right-turn lane.
  • Replace the traffic signal in the north-east quadrant, modify drainage and lighting incidental to the widening.
  • Upgrade pedestrian signalization and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) curb ramps to the latest ADA requirements.

Construction Impacts:

  • No full roadway closures are anticipated.
  • Temporary lane closures may be needed during construction and will occur at night.
  • Temporary pedestrian paths and detours will be provided for work impacting existing sidewalks.
  • Access to businesses and residences will be maintained during construction.
  • Another public meeting (Construction Open House) will be held prior to construction. Detailed information about how to keep informed of potential construction impacts will be provided at this meeting.
