Purpose of Project: This project is to address intersection safety improvements, Americans with Disabilities (ADA) improvements, and traffic signal updates at the following intersection locations:

  • SR 806/Atlantic Avenue at Homewood Boulevard
  • SR 704/Okeechobee Boulevard at Haverhill Road

Public Meeting Workshop: No public information meeting is scheduled for this project.

Projected Letting: March 2025

Anticipated Construction Start: Fall 2025

Anticipated Construction End: Summer 2026

Estimated Construction Cost: $3.5 Million

Scope of Work:

PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS — SR 806/ATLANTIC AVENUE AT HOMEWOOD BOULEVARD

  • Improve lighting by installing additional light poles and upgrading the existing lights to LED.
  • Replace the existing span wire signal support system with new mast arms.
  • Install backplates with yellow retro-reflective borders on all signal heads.
  • Replace the existing left turn signals with Flashing Yellow Arrow signals in eastbound and westbound directions.
  • Widen Homewood Blvd. to improve eastbound right-turn radius, create a shared thru/left turn lane, add an exclusive right turn lane, and provide 7-foot buffered bike lanes.
  • Provide a 2-foot striped offset buffer at the eastbound and westbound left-turn lanes.

 PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS — SR 704/OKEECHOBEE BOULEVARD AT HAVERHILL ROAD

  • Replace the existing span wire signal support system with new mast arms.
  • Install backplates with yellow retro-reflective borders on all signal heads.
  • Extend the eastbound dual left-turn lane.

Construction Impacts:

  • Two through lanes of traffic will remain open during construction for both the eastbound and westbound directions.
  • At least one through lane will remain open in the southbound and northbound direction at all times.
  • All work will be done in phases to reduce the impacts of construction on the community.
  • Pedestrian traffic will be maintained at all times.
  • Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times.
