Project Purpose: The Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation (RRR) project will extend the service life of the pavement, enhance roadway safety, and improve operating characteristics of the corridor.
Project Limits: Resurfacing, Restoration and Rehabilitation (RRR) improvements along State Road (SR) 834/Sample Road from SR 817/University Drive to Belmonte Boulevard and SR 834/Sample Road from west of SR 845/Powerline Road to Military Trail
A Public Meeting Was Held: Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 6:00 p.m. and was offered in-person and virtually.
The in-person public meeting took place at the La Quinta Inn & Suites located at 3701 North University Drive, Coral Springs, FL 33308.
The virtual public meeting was held via GoToWebinar.
The public meeting consisted of a formal presentation followed by an open discussion. Staff was available to answer questions and provide assistance. Comments and questions were answered in the order received. Questions not answered during the event, will receive a response in writing following the meeting.

Proposed Improvements:
446194-1-52-01:
- Repave and restripe the existing roadway within the project limits
- Remove abandoned driveways
- Upgrade pedestrian curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards
- Upgrade signing and pavement markings
- Install a “Next Signal University Drive” sign for westbound traffic approaching the intersection of SR 817/University Drive
- Upgrade signalization at the intersection of Holiday Springs Boulevard
- Upgrade all lighting to Light-Emitting Diode (LED) fixtures
- Improve drainage as needed
446195-1-52-01:
- Repave and restripe the existing roadway within the project limits
- Roadway widening and sidewalk reconstruction at Military Trail
- Upgrade pedestrian curb ramps to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards
- Remove abandoned driveways west of Military Trail and construct new curb and gutter and sidewalk
- Remove abandoned driveway west of NW 14 Avenue
- Upgrade signing and pavement markings and provide special emphasis crosswalk
- Upgrade signalization at the 1800 Block (Costco Entrance)
- Upgrade lighting at all signalized intersections to
- Improve drainage as needed
Construction Impacts:
- Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community
- Temporary lane closures will be required during daytime hours
- Access to businesses and residences will be maintained at all times
- No detours are necessary. Lane closures will be limited to one travel lane at a time
