Project Limits: Florida’s Turnpike/Sawgrass Expressway to west of I-95

Start Date: Design-Build funding starting in FY 2023

Anticipated Completion Date: 2027/28

Estimated Construction Cost: $325 M with Powerline Road Ramps Alternative; $229 M without Powerline Road Ramps Alternative

Scope of Work:

  • Add four-lane connector road (includes center barrier wall, outside barrier wall, and full width paved shoulders)
  • Add 12-foot wide shared use path on the southside of local SW 10th Street
  • Enhance crosswalks at Powerline Road and Military Trail

Benefits of the Build Alternatives:

  • Reduces Congestion
    • With Powerline Road Ramps: Reduced local traffic peak hour 2040 design year volumes below current traffic level by -73% in the am and -52% in the pm
    • Without Powerline Road Ramps: Reduces local traffic peak hour 2040 design year volumes below current traffic level by -40% in the am and -20% in the pm
  • Promotes Regional Connectivity:
    • Connects limited access facilities: I-95, Sawgrass, and Turnpike via a high-speed corridor
  • Improves Emergency Response Times and Evacuation Operations
  • Improves Pedestrian and Bicycle Connectivity: 12-foot wide shared use path throughout the corridor
