Scope of Work:
- Replace and paint the movable bridge deck grating
- Replace important electrical components and wiring
- Replace the mechanical span locks which connect two halves of the movable bridge deck when the bridge is in the "down" position
- Replace the existing navigation/marine fenders in the waterway, including replacement of the timber piles and support beams
- Renovate the bridge tender house
- Minor repaving of the roadway at west end of the bridge to restore traffic monitoring site
Construction Impacts:
- Work will be done in phases to minimize the impacts to the community
- Temporary lane closures to be required and will occur during non-peak hours
- Some activities will occur during night hours
- Full bridge closures will occur during certain phases, and detours will be provided utilizing Sunrise Boulevard, SR 5/US-1, and SR A1A
- Bridge closures will be during non-peak hours, and will not occur during special events
- Pedestrian traffic will be maintained on the side of the bridge opposite from any ongoing construction
- Access to properties on both sides of the bridge will be maintained at all times
- Marine vessel traffic will be maintained with possible closure on half the channel
