Project Limits: Loxahatchee Road from Arthur R. Marshall Loxahatchee National Wildlife Refuge to SR 7/US 441 in Broward County

Construction Start Date: Fall 2023

Estimated Construction Cost: 33 million
Scope of Work:
- Widen pavement to accommodate bike lanes.
- Construct a curbed raised median.
- Upgrade the guardrail on the north side of the corridor.
- Construct sidewalk on the south side of the corridor.
- Construct roundabouts at three locations: Nob Hill Road, University Drive, and Parkside Drive.
- Construct one additional eastbound left turn lane onto SR 7/US 441.
- Drainage improvements.
Project Status:
- Design is approximately 90% complete.
- Permits are being processed due to environmental impacts and proposed drainage improvements.
- Ongoing coordination with utility owners along eastbound Loxahatchee Road to relocate their utilities.
- Ongoing coordination to remove all Right-of-way encroachments.
Noise Analysis:
- Noise analysis was conducted for the project corridor.
- Locations that would benefit from noise abatement were identified.
- Additional estimated cost to include noise walls:
- Noise barrier: $6.6 million to $7 million
- Right-of-way and utility relocation: $5.8 million
- A noise barrier will not be constructed as part of this project because it is not eligible for federal funding.
