Project Limits: NW 21 Avenue from NW 26 Street to State Road (SR) 870/Commercial Boulevard
Purpose of the Project: The purpose of the project is to enhance safety for pedestrians and bicyclists through targeted improvements while improving overall corridor safety through access management changes.
Public Meeting: Thursday, August 22, 2024, at 6:00 p.m. and will be offered in-person and virtually simultaneously.
The public meeting will take place at the Tyrone Bryant Public Library located at 2230 NW 21 Avenue, Fort Lauderdale, Florida 33311.

The public meeting will consist of a formal presentation followed by an open discussion. Staff will be available to answer questions and provide assistance. Comments and questions will be answered in the order received. If your question is not answered during the event, a response will be provided in writing following the meeting. Estimated Construction Cost: $2.6 million
Scope of Work:
- Repave and restripe the existing roadway between NW 26 Street and SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard to provide 5-foot bicycle lanes
- Replace sections of the two-way left-turn lane between NW 26 Street and SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard with raised medians
- Provide Stamped Asphalt crosswalks between NW 26 Street and SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard
- Upgrade signing and pavement markings between NW 26 Street and SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard as required to meet current standards
- Provide continuous green bicycle lanes between NW 26 Street and SR 870/Commercial Boulevard
Construction Impacts:
- Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community
- Partial detours (one direction at a time) will be required to complete the paving operations between NW 26 Street and SR 816/Oakland Park Boulevard
- Access to properties along the corridor will be maintained at all times
